The inaugural meeting of the Accountancy Matters WhatsApp Group was held at the Sheraton Hotel, Athlone on Friday 7th February.

The Group was established by Nuala McGowan, CPA, ACA, AIA, as an online platform for Accountants and Solicitors to discuss the issues of the day in their respective professions. The group now has in excess of 89 active members.
The speakers at the event included: Phyllis Willoughby, Chartered Accountants Ireland, Enda Flynn, Flynn and Lynch, Life and Pensions, Jonathan Sorbet, Bright Accounting & Payroll, Paul Molloy, Box Clever Tax, Paula Murphy, SAGE, and Tom Murray, Friel Stafford.
Nuala McGowan commented: “As the founding member of the Accountancy Matters Group I would like to thank the speakers and attendees at our inaugural event. It was a great success and we are already looking forward to the next meeting on Friday, 22nd August 2025 sponsored fully by IFAC .
